Enugu, Kebbi, and Niger States have been identified as the most expensive states to live in in Nigeria.
The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, disclosed this in its April Consumer Price Index, CPI, released on Thursday.

According to April’s CPI, Enugu State has the highest headline inflation on a year-on-year basis, which stood at 35.98 percent, followed by Kebbi with 35.13 percent and Niger with 34.85 percent.
This showed that the three states recorded the highest rise in core inflation rate in the period under review.

On the flip side, Ondo State, with 13.42 percent; Cross River, with 17.11 percent; and Kwara, with 17.28 percent, recorded the lowest rise in headline inflation on a year-on-year basis.

“In April 2025, the AII Items inflation rate on a year-on-year basis was highest in Enugu (35.98 percent), Kebbi (35.13 percent), and Niger (34.85 percent), while Ondo (13.42 percent), Cross River (17.11 percent), and Kwara (17.28 percent) recorded the lowest rise in headline inflation on a year-on-year basis,” NBS stated.
This comes as Nigeria’s average headline inflation dropped to 23.7 percent in April.

Recall that in May 2024, NBS named Kogi, Bauchi, and Oyo as the most expensive states.
