The Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a 24-member Governorship Primary Appeal Panel to review petitions arising from the Osun State governorship primary ahead of the 2026 election.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Daka Shan. According to the party, the appeal sitting is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The PDP said the panel would conduct its assignment strictly in line with the party’s constitution and relevant electoral laws.

“In carrying out this assignment, the panel is expected to be guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Guidelines for Party Primaries and the Electoral Act, 2022,” the statement reads in part.

The panel is chaired by the PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN).

Meanwhile, major statutory organs and leadership bodies within the party have declared support for the newly elected NWC led by Turaki.

Those expressing solidarity include state chairmen from the 36 states and the FCT, the PDP caucuses in the Senate and House of Representatives, national ex-officio members, the Forum of Former Governors, the Forum of Former Ministers and former NWC members.

A schedule released by the party showed that the Turaki-led NWC would meet with state chairmen, house members and national ex-officio members on Wednesday.

During the engagements, the NWC will present a Certificate of Return to the PDP candidate for the June 20, 2026, Ekiti State governorship election, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede.

Further meetings are slated for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with former governors, former ministers and former NWC members, while an engagement with PDP senators is fixed for Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

The meetings form part of efforts by the new NWC to consolidate its leadership and chart a fresh direction for the party following the successful 2025 elective national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
