The Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Jos organised conference on identifying opportunities and challenges that threaten sustainability in Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the opening ceremony, Dr Clement Adewale, said, “This is an annual conference of management science research, organised by the faculty of management sciences, with the theme: Business and Sustainable Innovation Management; Novel Opportunities and Challenges in the 21st century.
According to him, “This is the time to talk about sustainability, as we cannot be left behind as an academic community.
Adewale who is the Head of Department Banking and Finance, University of Jos, and a member of the local organising committee, maintained that, “We are here to discuss issues, identify opportunities and challenges that threaten sustainability in Nigeria.
“That is why this conference has been able to put together distinguished scholars from within an outside the country, to address issues, report their researches and to make concrete recommendations and action points of issues that will sustain business sustainability in Nigeria.
“We have themes covering areas of business, accounting, finance and marketing, that would be discussing issues relating to sustainability.
“Sustainability been the key area, and; in terms of that sustainability, we are looking at environment, economy as well as the social aspect of sustainability “, he explained.
While presenting her keynote address via zoom, Prof Laura Orobia, of the University of Makerere, Uganda, described Nigeria as a nation endowed with talents and potential, hence the need to harness it.
