Ndume said the new office did not reflect his seniority and status as a high-ranking member of the upper legislative chamber. The Borno lawmaker was removed as the senate chief on July 17.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Ndume of making hurtful comments against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The APC also asked him to resign from the party, and he was replaced with Tahir Monguno, a senator representing Borno north, as the senate chief whip.

In a statement on Tuesday, Yati Shuaibu Gawu, an aide to Ndume, said the senator should occupy an office on the fourth floor of the national assembly complex against the third floor he was given.

“I am directed to inform you that Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the committee,” the statement reads.

“This is because offices are traditionally allocated on a seniority basis.

“Sen. Ndume is the most senior senator after Sen. Ahmad Lawan and will only occupy an office on the fourth floor.”

After his removal as chief whip, Ndume has since been appointed as the senate committee chairman on tourism, which he has rejected.
