The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have declared an indefinite nationwide strike starting on Monday, June 3rd, over the failure of the federal government to conclude negotiations on a new national minimum wage and reverse the hike in the electricity tariff.
Recall that the two labour centres gave the federal government until May 31st to conclude the new minimum wage negotiation or face nationwide industrial action.
Stormed out of the minimum wage tripartite meeting on Friday evening, the Presidents of NLC and TUC, Comrade Joe Ajaero and Comrade Festus Osifo called for an emergency press briefing to declare their decision following a fallout at the negotiation meeting.
