The VC spoke at the 2024/2025 Matriculation held on the main campus in Ojo,Lagos.

She urged the new students to be dedicated to their studies, stressing that they were lucky to be in the institution following stiff competition for admissions.

“A total number of 12,590 were admitted out of over 60,000 applicants that subscribed to the University. Therefore, you must count yourselves very lucky to be among the very few that was admitted. It is on this note that I will advise you to face your studies so as not to lose the huge opportunity of getting University education,” she said.

Olatunji-Bello stressed that the university under her administration has zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, leading to the creation of the Directorate of Centre for Response and Prevention of Sexual & Gender-Based Violence.

She urged the students not to keep silent when harassed or assaulted in any manner. “If you see something, say something,” she said.

The VC admonished them to shun all forms of unethical practices, stressing erring students will be dealt with in line with the school’s diisciplinary mechanisms.
