Residents of Ajasa/Isoto in Agbado Okeodo Local Council Development Area have said Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) cannot serve demolition and contravention papers on their market at Isoto community.
A statement by Adeolu Dada, on behalf of residents, said some people wanted to displace them from the area to rebuild the place for personal and selfish reasons.
He cited what happened at Kola bus stop in the same LCDA when markets were demolished, but another shopping complex was later built by the LCDA on the same land.
Dada said when the markets were destroyed; the agency gave excuse of the markets being under powerline.
He added: ‘’As peace loving people, we have taken the matter to court, as we believe justice will be served. When the matter came up on August 7, representatives of the agency as defendants and their lawyer were absent. The case has been adjourned till September 11 for further hearing.’’
