The International Air Transport Association (Iata) has revealed that total demand measured in cargo tonne-kilometres (ctk), rose for the 16th consecutive month of growth, increasing by 8.2% compared to November 2023 levels (+9.5% for international operations).
Asia-Pacific airlines saw 13.2% year-on-year demand growth for air cargo in November, the strongest growth amongst the regions, followed by Latin American (+11.6%), North American (+6.9%), Europe (+5.6%) and the Middle East (+3.6%). African airlines registered a 0.7% decrease in demand.
Iata director general Willie Walsh said that “it was a good November for air cargo. All things considered, we’re looking to close 2024’s air cargo performance on a profitable note. Whilst this strong performance is likely to extend into 2025, there are some downside risks that must be carefully watched.” (ah)
