Arsenal youngster, Ethan Nwaneri, has been in scintillating form for the England Under-19s during the international break.
Nwaneri has hugely benefitted from the departures of Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham and Fabio Vieira on loan to FC Porto, as well as the unfortunate injury to Martin Odegaard, further boosting his chances of first team football this season. The youngster’s first appearance arrived as a late substitute for Bukayo Saka in the narrow win over the old enemy, Tottenham Hotspurs, in the North London Derby.
Nwaneri had his first full start a few days later against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup, and he repaid his gaffer’s faith with a brilliant brace on the night, as Arsenal put Bolton to the sword to qualify for a Fourth Round berth with Preston North End. His third appearance came as a late sub in the win over Leicester City, and his cameo performance was so good that he earned some plaudits from ex-Gunner, Theo Walcott.

Ethan Nwaneri on Fire for England Under-19s
Despite being just 17 years of age, Nwaneri was called up by the England Under-19s team
How did Nwaneri fare on international duty?
Nwaneri was named captain of the England Under-19s, leading the lads out for two games before coming on as a sub in the last game. The youngster scored in two of the three games, with the first being a well-dispatched penalty kick in the 2-1 loss to Portugal Under-19s. He also scored in the 4-2 win against France Under -19s, which was a beautiful goal in every sense of the word. Nwaneri picked up the ball from the right wing, cut inside to his favorite magic wand of a left foot and curled in a sumptuous finish, much to the delight of his gaffer, teammates and fans blessed enough to witness the great occasion.
Nwaneri will be looking to see more game time for Arsenal this season and I’m certain that he will be odds on to start the EFL Cup Fourth Round clash at Deepdale when the Gunners visit Preston.
