The move is part of a wider U.S. immigration enforcement effort targeting non-citizens with criminal records and has drawn attention within Nigerian diaspora communities.

In other news, Seyi Tinubu has presented businessman Obi Cubana with an appointment letter as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a pro-Tinubu youth group. The appointment has sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his influence and critics questioning his political involvement ahead of the 2027 elections.

The United States Department of Homeland Security has said it will deport no fewer than 79 convicted Nigerians listed on its ‘worst-of-the-worst’ criminal list.

2. VIDEO: Seyi Tinubu visits, presents Obi Cubana with City Boy Movement appointment letter

Prominent businessman and socialite, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has received appointment letter as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

Iyiegbu disclosed this in a post made on Tuesday via his official Instagram page, revealing that Seyi Tinubu visited him at his residence on Monday night to present the certificate of appointment.

The Anambra-born entrepreneur said the visit also provided an opportunity for both men to hold discussions on various national issues.

3. NECO releases 2025 SSCE external results, over 80% score five credits
The National Examinations Council has announced the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, with over 80 per cent of candidates scoring five credits and above.

The results were announced on Tuesday by NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, during a press conference held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

4. France raids X offices, summons Musk for questioning
France summoned billionaire Elon Musk to a “voluntary interview” as cybercrime authorities on Tuesday searched the French offices of his social media network X, the Paris public prosecutor’s office said.

The operation, which involves EU police agency Europol, is part of an investigation opened in January 2025 into whether X’s algorithm was used to interfere in French politics.

“Summons for voluntary interviews on April 20, 2026, in Paris have been sent to Mr Elon Musk and Ms Linda Yaccarino, in their capacity as de facto and de jure managers of the X platform at the time of the events,” the prosecutors said in a statement.

Yaccarino resigned as CEO of X in July last year, after two years at the helm of the company.

5. NDLEA moves to replace cannabis farms with lawful crops
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intensified efforts to curb illicit cannabis cultivation by promoting an alternative development programme aimed at replacing illegal farming with lawful, sustainable livelihoods for rural communities.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) called for a strong national response and sustained support for the initiative, which he described as the first of its kind in Africa.

Marwa said the pilot phase of the programme was launched last week in three cannabis-growing communities — Ilu Abo, Ifon, and Eleyewo in Ondo State — stressing that the strategy goes beyond crop substitution to address the root causes of illicit drug cultivation.
