Association of Local Government of Nigeria ( ALGON) has urged Nigerians to promote unity and peace at all levels during the Christmas celebration.

The National chairman of ALGON, who is also the chairman of Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi made the appeal in his Christmas message on Monday.

He called on Christians and other religious groups to continue in love, which he said remain key to achieving dividends of democracy.

According to him, the current principles of President Bola Tinubu’s administration for unity and oneness need to be supported by all Nigerians for progress and prosperity in the land.

The ALGON chairman said Christmas is all about demonstrating love, peace and happiness which is signified by the birth of Jesus Christ. He stressed that Christmas is a period of sharing in love irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

Abdullahi said the Council has made adequate security arrangement to ensure that the celebration is devoid of unwholesome practices that hinder cooperation and understanding between people and interreligious groups.
