Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has donated ₦5 million to support the treatment of popular online food vendor and Twitter personality, Aunty Esther, who is battling breast cancer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Galatasaray forward made the contribution after coming across a distressing video showing the elderly woman, real name Esther Omolola Mensah, crying in pain and pleading for help.

The footage, shared widely on social media, showed her struggling on a hospital bed while revealing the part of her chest severely affected by cancer.

Aunty Esther, known for her work shopping for and delivering market items, had built a loyal following on Twitter due to her reliability and warm personality. But her illness forced her to halt her business in recent months, and her condition worsened to the point where fellow users raised an alarm and began mobilising support.

In recent days, good samaritans stepped in to take her to hospital, where tests revealed she would need extensive, costly treatment running into several millions of naira. Her supporters opened a verified donation account, prompting thousands of Nigerians to contribute what their widow’s mite.

Massive public support grows as Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen steps in

On Wednesday, the biggest support yet arrived when Osimhen transferred ₦5 million to the fund.

The 26-year-old’s gesture triggered an emotional reaction from the beneficiary, who publicly thanked him for his kindness and prayed for blessings upon him and others who had stepped in to help.

“Thank you uncle, Victor Osimhen. God bless u abundantly,” she wrote in a message shared on her Twitter account.

Osimhen’s intervention comes at a challenging moment in his own season. The striker watched helplessly from the sidelines on Tuesday night as Galatasaray fell 1–0 to Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League.

Injury kept him out of the match, with his absence clearly felt.

Osimhen has scored six goals in just three Champions League outings, inspiring Galatasaray to back-to-back wins over Liverpool, Bodo/Glimt and Ajax. His cutting edge was missing as the Turkish champions struggled to find fluency against Union SG at RAMS Park.

The Nigerian forward is expected to return to full fitness ahead of Galatasaray’s derby clash against Fenerbahçe on December 1st. Galatasaray lead the standings with 32 points, one ahead of second-place Fenerbahçe.
