The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, and his Anambra State counterpart, Prof. Charles Soludo, have praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to the development of the South-East region, following his official visit to Enugu.

Tinubu’s visit, they said, underscored his administration’s focus on regional development.

During the visit, the President commissioned several projects executed by Mbah, including smart green schools, rural roads, 150 patrol vehicles fitted with AI-embedded surveillance cameras, and Type 2 primary healthcare centres, part of the ongoing construction of 260 such centres across the state’s wards.

Other projects inaugurated included the International Conference Centre, upgraded urban roads in Enugu city, and a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre.

Mbah lauded Tinubu for signing the South-East Development Commission bill into law, expressing optimism that the commission would address the region’s unique infrastructural and ecological challenges.

He said, “Your visit today will remain indelible in our history. The honour your presence confers is not borne by my government alone but by the entire state and, indeed, the South-East. We also commend you for signing the South-East Development Commission bill into law.

“This commission will not only address infrastructural gaps and ecological challenges in the region but also complement the ongoing development strides in Enugu State.”

Similarly, Soludo hailed the visit as a demonstration of Tinubu’s focus on South-East progress.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo also commended Mbah for his developmental achievements, likening them to similar advancements in Anambra State.

Addressing Mbah during the event, Tinubu said, “Enugu is achieving great heights, building our tomorrow today. Governor Peter Mbah is placing Enugu on the path of 21st-century development. You’re a good thinker, Mbah. You’re my friend. We can go places together—building Nigeria, building the future. Use technology to build and promote investment. We must encourage the private sector to participate in politics.”
