Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Chih-Chung (吳志中) lauded Taiwan’s efforts to boost trade and investment in African countries at a celebration marking 18 years of the Taiwan-Africa Business Association (TABA).
Wu encouraged TABA to continue supporting Taiwanese businesses seeking opportunities in African markets, per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The foreign ministry is a steadfast partner in advancing Taiwan-Africa relations, he added.
Despite Taiwan’s international challenges, it offers valuable experiences to share with African nations, Wu said. He highlighted the establishment of representative offices in Somaliland and the Ivory Coast as recent accomplishments.
TABA Chair Lin Yuan (林原) said the association has steadily grown, with over 120 Taiwanese member companies. He emphasized Africa’s potential as the fastest-growing market globally over the next decade and said the association would continue assisting Taiwanese entrepreneurs in expanding their presence in Africa.
TABA was founded in 1997 and aims to foster trade between Taiwan and Africa by establishing business networks, facilitating information exchange, and protecting Taiwanese business interests.
MOFA pledged to collaborate closely with TABA and other Africa-focused trade organizations to help Taiwanese companies find opportunities in the continent.
